Two militants sentenced to15-year jail term

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sentenced two members of a banned outfit to 15-year imprisonment each on charges of terror financing.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had arrested Luqman and Masoodur Rehman last year and lodged a case against them under section 11-N of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. They were members of proscribed Lashkar-i-Taiba.

The prosecution said the suspects committed offences of terrorism financing by managing assets/properties of the proscribed organisation and by raising funds from these properties. It successfully established the offences by producing evidence wherein the suspects had collected funds for the banned outfit.

The court found the suspects guilty of offences of terror financing under section 11-N of ATA and sentenced them for 15-year imprisonment.

Spokesman for the CTD said the conviction would have a big impact to stop terror financing in the country.
