Crocodile, other species relocated from Islamabad to Sindh sanctuary

ISLAMABAD: Five land tortoises, 16 freshwater turtles and a marsh crocodile have been relocated to a wildlife sanctuary in Sindh.

The animals were moved from the Marghazar Zoo after the Islamabad High Court ordered for the zoo’s lone elephant, Kaavan, and other wildlife species to be moved to sanctuaries and safer habitats, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board Assistant Director Sakhawat Ali told this agency.

He said the Ministry of Climate Change had decided to turn the zoo into a safari or enclosure zoo to make it better for animals and a more informative and attractive place for tourists.
