Bank manager held for Rs30m fraud

GUJRANWALA: The Federal investigation agency (FIA) arrested on Wednesday a bank manager in a Rs30million fraud case.

FIA Additional Director Chaudhry Abdul Hafeez told Dawn that HBL Sheranwala Bagh Branch Manager Ehsan Khalil was involved in making fake drafts from some account holders and depositing the amount with accounts of his relatives and friends.

The FIA received complaints from account holders that the branch manager allegedly embezzled their amounts.

FIA inspector Nadeem Gujjar along with his team raided the branch and arrested the suspect.

The FIA has obtained five-day physical remand of the manager.

INJURED: A man allegedly injured his brother and mother and usurped a cash of Rs0.975 million in Nowshera Virkan.

Maqbool Ahmad took cash from his brother Zulfiqar to give him land but refused to transfer land. When Zulfiqar demanded his cash back, Maqbool allegedly tortured him. When their mother intervened, he allegedly beat her as well.

Police have registered a case and initiated investigation.
