Kohat residents complain of water shortage

KOHAT: The residents of many parts of the Kohat city and posh sectors of KDA Township have demanded of the Water Supply and Sanitation Company (WSSC) to purchase heavy-duty generators to run the tubewells in case of power loadshedding to ensure smooth water supply to the consumers.

They also asked the company to use tankers to supply water in emergency situations.

The residents said whenever they dialled the complaint numbers they were told that due to the electricity loadshedding the tubewells were not functioning according to the schedule.

It may be recalled that whenever similar problem arose the tehsil municipal administration brought heavy duty generators from Peshawar to run the tubewells in hot summer. But, since the WSSC took over, the residents have been facing persistent water shortage.

The TMA also provided water to consumers through tankers in mohallahs.

The residents pointed out that a large number of tankers were parked in front of the KDA offices which could be used to supply water.
