Protesters want killers of Karak woman, sons arrested

KARAK: A large number of people belonging to different walks of life and various political parties gathered here the other day to condemn the murder of a woman and her two sons in Bogara area of the district.

The protesters, on the call of Qaumi Ittehad, held a jirga in Takht-i-Nusrati at Shuhada Park and demanded of government to bring the killers to justice as early as possible.

The jirga was attended by MPAs Malik Zafar Azam and Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, former lawmakers, traders and lawyers. They strongly condemned worsening law and order situation in the tehsil and claimed that during the last one week about 13 motorcycles were snatched in the area at gunpoint.

They said that traders belong to Hangu district, who had come to the weekly cattle fare of Machaki, were looted in Lashti Koorana area of Takht-i-Nusrati. They said that robbers took away Rs317,000 cash and three mobile phones from the traders.

The speakers said that about a week ago, thieves stole six tola gold and Rs20,000 cash from a house in Bogara area.

The speakers said that the incident of killing a mother and her sons was also an act of robbery and the culprits should be dealt under anti-terrorism law. They asked police to trace the killers instead of torturing innocent people.

The jirga set one-week deadline for the arrest of the killers and improving law and order in the tehsil and announced to chalk out future line of action after expiry of the deadline.

FIRs REGISTERED: Police reopened the offices of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) here the other day for the employees and registered FIRs against leader of protesters Maulana Mirzaqeem and about 12 other local elders.

Police sources said that the offices were reopened by breaking the locks and FIRs were registered against former district president of Khattak Ittehad Maulana Mirzaqeem and other elders for holding protest the other day and interfering in the official affairs and pulling out the employees from their offices forcibly.

Till filing of this report no arrest was made. Sources said Maulana Mirazaqeem called a meeting of the elders to discuss the new situation and chalk out future line of action.
