Couple stabbed to death in Nazimabad
KARACHI: A recently married couple were stabbed to death in Nazimabad on Saturday morning, police said.
They added that Mohammad Saleem Qureshi, 60, and his wife Hina, aged 28-30 years, were stabbed and killed allegedly by the woman’s relatives “due to personal issues” at Nazimabad No 1. Police found a knife used in the crime.
Rizvia Society SHO Muzaffar Ali said they had married around four to five months back. It was the second marriage of the man. The woman’s family had opposed the marriage. He claimed that Hina’s brothers were involved in the double murder and they had been arrested. The suspects killed the couple with a knife and an axe.
The bodies were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil legal formalities. Additional police surgeon Dr Mohammad Saleem said the couple suffered multiple injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon.
Young woman found murdered
A woman was found murdered in the Manghopir area on Saturday.
Police said the body of the woman, around 25, was found on Northern Bypass.
The additional police surgeon of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said the woman was hit on the head and killed with a stone. The corpse was two to three days old.
Burnt body found
The body of an unidentified man with burns was found in bushes inside Gutter Baghicha.
Pak Colony SHO Rehmatullah Khan Marwat said the body was burnt beyond recognition. It was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.
Cracker attack
The office of a police officer was attacked with a cracker in Liaquatabad on Saturday.
Police said suspects riding a motorbike hurled a cracker at the office of DSP-Gulbahar situated in Liaquatabad. The cracker did not explode.
The police called the bomb disposal squad which defused the cracker. The police were investigating the motive for and identity of the suspects.
Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from DIG-West.
