Lance naik martyred in Turbat gunfight
GWADAR: A fierce gunfight broke out between security personnel and terrorists in Balochistan’s Kech district in which a junior commissioned officer embraced martyrdom while three other personnel were injured, the army’s public relations wing said on Saturday.
A press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the gunfight took place when security personnel on a routine patrol were ambushed by terrorists near Pidarak, about 35km from Turbat, the administrative headquarters of the district.
In the firefight, Lance Naik Javed Karim was killed while three soldiers were injured, said the press release.
Another ISPR handout issued later in the day said major terrorist activity was averted due to a timely operation carried out by the FC Balochistan.
The FC personnel carried out an intelligence-based operation near a terrorist hideout in Buleda, Turbat, said the press release.
In the operation a terrorist belonging to the banned Baloch Liberation Army was killed. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the hideout, added the press release.
