RAWALPINDI: Two persons tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday while 18 were discharged from the hospital after recovery. No death from the virus was reported.

The number of confirmed patients in the district now stands at 6,543 while 276 persons have died and 6,105 patients have been discharged after recovery.

However, 116 suspected patients are still waitingfor their results while the number of confirmed patients under treatment is162 including 102 in four government hospitalsincluding Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

Around 60 asymptomatic patients have been isolated in their homes.

Local administrations had also kept 6,818 persons in quarantine, who came into close contact with confirmed patients.As many as 10 district health authority teams were deployed to monitor these patients, isolated in 753 residences.

According to data from the Rawalpindi Division, 7,871 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last four months including 6,543 from Rawalpindi, 578 from Attock, 467 fromJhelum and 283 from Chakwal. Number of patients who died from the virus in the division is 342 including 276 in Rawalpindi, 20 in Attock, nine in Jhelum and 37 in Chakwal.

As many as 7,299 persons recovered from the virus in the division including 6,105 in Rawalpindi, 518 in Attock, 441 in Jhelum and 235 in Chakwal.

Islamabad

An increase in Covid-19 cases was observed in Islamabad, as 46 more people tested positive, Dawn has learnt

“On Wednesday, 46 more cases were reported in the capital; the tally of confirmed cases in the capital reached 15,122 and 12,732 have recovered so far. The death toll from the virus in the capital is 167. There are 2,223 active cases in the capital,” an official from the capital administration stated.

Wah

Six persons, including a doctor and three of his family members tested positive for Covid-19 in Wah, taking the total number of patients to 421.

Death toll from the virus also reached 19 as one more person passed away in Wah. According to health authorities the deceased man was a resident of Model Town. He had been admitted to BBH, Rawalpindi and was buried under newly enforced standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the local graveyard.

Deputy District Officer (Health) Dr Sara Qadeer said that all newly detected patients belong to urban areas of Wah. “Five belong to Ward 8, which was already declared ahot spot by the district administration. All new patients are home isolated. Out of 421 positive patients in Taxila tehsil, 17 are under treatment in different hospitals of the area, 91 are under home isolation while 294 patients have recovered,” she said.

Furthermore, the number of patients in Attock rose to 578 as two new cases surfaced on Wednesday.

According to district health authorities, a male doctor from Hazro and another man tested positive in the district.District Focal Person for Covid-19 Dr Asif Arbab Niazi said: “There are 40 active patients across the district out of which 21 in Attock and 14 in Hazro are under home isolation. Fourpatients from Fatehjang, Pindigheb, Jand and Hassanabdal are hospitalised.”

Responding to a question, Mr Niazi said that the number of suspected cases in the district rose to 4,260 while screening of 7,841 persons has been carried out.

“The results of 293 suspected patients are awaited. Out of 523 positive patients 36 are home isolated. Positive development in connection to the virus is that so far 518 positive patients have recovered in the district,” he added.
