Process for dam in PM’s constituency complete

MIANWALI: The process for construction of Chapri dam in Isakhel tehsil is complete and the work order for the project will be issued within two years.

After its completion, the dam will provide potable water to eight union councils of Khattak belt having a population of 0.2 million in the National Assembly constituency that elected Imran Khan, now the country’s premier.

Mianwali Deputy Commissioner Omer Sher Chatha told Dawn that fulfilling the promise he had made during his 2018 election campaign, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered a survey for construction of the dam that would solve the chronic water shortage issue in the area.

The DC said the paper work of the Chapi dam project, including its design and pipelines survey for water supply, had been completed.

He said the project to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs300 million, would be the biggest in the history of the district so far.

The people of the Khattak belt comprising hilly areas of Isakhel tehsil have been demanding provision of drinking water since long. Most of the residents have to drink water accumulating in ponds after rain in the area.
