‘PTI govt failed to deliver in two years because of U-turns’

SWABI: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government has failed to stabilise the country’s economy and deliver according to people’s expectations because of frequent U-turns, said leaders of opposition parties in the ‘Rabita’ programme of Swabi Electronic Media Association on Wednesday on “PTI’s two-year rule and people’s expectations.”

They said all pledges made with the voters during 2018 elections had been ignored by the PTI leadership. They said the government had failed in all sectors and cited in this regard the rising prices of commodities and medicines, sugar scandal, disappearance of oil from market and flour shortage.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Maulana Fazal Ali claimed that the ruling party could not mention a single sector where it had delivered, while the opposition could tell them about numerous areas where the PTI had failed in past two years.

“Holding the previous governments responsible for every failure would not work, as people are monitoring everything on daily basis,” he said.

Awami National Party leader Mukhtiar Khan said it was clear from the two-year performance of the PTI government that the masses would face more difficulties in near future.

Mehmoodul Hussain, former district chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, questioned the accountability process, saying credibility of the National Accountability Bureau was at stake.

ASI SUSPENDED: District police officer Imran Shahid suspended an assistant sub-inspector of Swabi city police station on the complaint of a citizen of Chota Lahor on Wednesday, said police officials.

Lal Zeb, a resident of Chota Lahor, had submitted an application to the DPO office that ASI Nazar Mohammad had illegally raided his house in his absence, beat up his brother and turned down appeal of the women to tell them about reason for the raid.

He said that relations of his brother Saddam Khan with the ASI had deteriorated and the police official misused his authority and raided his house without a lady constable though their house did not fall in his jurisdiction.

The DPO ordered an enquiry against the ASI and had sent him to the police lines.

JUI-F ACTIVIST DIES: Saeed Muqadas Shah Bacha, a JUI-F activist, died in a well due to poisonous gas in Manki village of Chota Lahor tehsil.

When his brother felt that it was difficult for him to come out he went down the well and his condition also deteriorated, but he was saved by the local people.

Later, body of the deceased was retrieved and buried in their ancestral graveyard.
