Price of 20kg wheat flour in Balochistan fixed at Rs920

QUETTA: Balochistan Food Minister Abdul Rehman Khetiran has said that the price of a bag of 20kg wheat flour has been fixed at Rs920 in the province.

During a visit to the stalls set up at Airport Road and Alamo Chowk on Thursday to provide wheat flour to the people at reduced rate, he said the food department had allowed the shopkeepers to earn a profit of Rs50 on a bag of 100 kg.

Action would be taken against those who were found selling flour at high rates, he said.

The minister said wheat had been procured from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation to ensure smooth supply of wheat and its flour to people. He claimed that the procurement had been done in a transparent manner this year and the quality of wheat had been ensured.

“There is no crisis in the province as we have enough stock of wheat in our warehouses,” he said.

Mr Khetiran said the stalls of subsidised flour have been set up in Quetta on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“As long as our government is in power, we will not allow any disruption in food supply in Balochistan. If necessary, millers would also be consulted in this regard,” he added.
