SUKKUR, Sept 20: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, suspending increase of 11 union councils and changes made in boundaries of various dehs of Ghotki district has granted status quo till the next date of hearing September 27. The bench comprised Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Ameer Hani Muslim.

The judges passed the order on the petition filed PPP leaders Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Mian Abdul Haq Mithoo, Jam Mehtab Hussain, Mian Shafiq Ahmed, Jam Shafqat Dahar and Jam Abdul Rehman through their counsel Hafeez Pirzado, Mujeeb Pirzado and Imdad Awan.

The Sindh government has issued four notifications in this regard out of which two were issued by the Board of Revenue and two by the Secretary Sindh local government.

About 11 union councils were increased in the district and boundaries of various dehs were changed.

The double bench of the Sindh High Court after hearing both the parties suspended implementation on the four notifications of the Sindh government and granted status quo till the next date of hearing September 27.

The double bench ordered that the case would be heard on September 27 and the local body elections would be held after the final verdict.

The additional advocate-general Ghulam Dastagir Shahani represented the government.

SUBMERGED: More than 20 villages of the Ghotki district came under water on Monday night following rise in the Indus River and water was touching the OGDC protective bund.

Sources said last night due to increase in the level, water entered into more than 20 villages of the area due to which vegetable crop was inundated.

The affected villages are Jial Chachar, Ublo Chachar, Ghazi Chachar, Haji Shaman Chachar, Makhno Sundrani, Salam Chachar and others.

The irrigation officials said the increase in the river was natural after recent rainfall in the NWFP and Punjab and there was nothing to worry about it.
