Five children of family drown in Kohat pond

KOHAT: Four girls and a boy belonging to the same family drowned in a pond in Keri Sheikhan area here on Friday, police said.

They said one of the girls who did not know swimming jumped into the water. And, in an attempt to save her, all the children jumped into the pond one after another, but all drowned.

The victims were identified as Zohra Bibi, 16, Aisha Bibi 11, Soya Bibi 7, Hazir Bibi, 14, and a nine-year-old boy. They were the children of Yarmin Khan of Orakzai district who had migrated to Keri Sheikhan area of Kohat.

The help of volunteer drivers was sought who later pulled out the bodies from deep water.

The search was mounted in the pond after children remained missing for several hours. The bodies were shifted to a hospital in Chor Lakki area.
