UN asked to stop crimes against humanity in occupied Kashmir
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan has asked the United Nations to stop crimes against humanity going on unabated in India-held Kashmir.
A meeting of the committee presided over by its chairman Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning atrocities being perpetrated by Indian occupation troops against innocent Kashmiris and flagrant violations of human rights in the valley that had been turned into the largest prison in the world on Aug 5 last year.
The resolution, moved by Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar, said: “We appreciate the strength of will, courage and sacrifices of Kashmiri brothers and the entire nation supports their struggle for independence.”
It urged the United Nations Security Council, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, human rights organisations and other international forums to play their role against India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir and in implementing the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur, MNAs Saleem Rehman, Mehboob Shah, Mohammad Bashir Khan, Syed Sami-ul-Hassan Gillani and others attended the meeting.
