Fake fard: two PLRA officials suspended

SAHIWAL: After a departmental inquiry two senior officials of Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) were suspended from service on Saturday.

Six months back, PRLA In-charge Muhammad Umair and centre official Fahad Jutt issued a fake agriculture land ownership certificate to a citizen at Mir Dad Mafi Noor Shah village. The owner filed an application with local anti-corruption establishment office.

An inquiry into the matter found the officials guilty of issuing a fake certificate (fard).

On Saturday, both officials were suspended from service after the ACE report.

LAND RETRIEVED: The Regional office of anti-corruption establishment in a joint operation with irrigation department, municipal corporation, revenue department, forest department and local police retrieved 21-kanal prime commercial state land from illegal possession.

The land valuing at Rs1.5 billion is located in the centre of the city and has allegedly been occupied by different influential people for the last two decades.

ACE Deputy Director Amir Cheema told Dawn that many illegal nurseries of plants and shops were set up over the land situated at Mall Mandi Chowk to College Chowk.

The land was handed over to irrigation and forest departments.
