President says country back on path to recovery

MIRPURKHAS: President of Pakistan Arif Alvi has said that the country has been put back on the path to recovery and its economy is fast improving each day after Imran Khan restored the country’s positive image and adopted a “bold” policy that helped Pakistan defeat coronavirus.

He said at a ceremony for distribution of relief goods held at a private hall here on Saturday that under “honest” leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan the federal government had eradicated corruption on high level.

He said that now masses should see and feel prosperity in order to believe that the federal government was sincerely trying to improve their lot. “In the first year, we tried to reduce government expenses and save money and now we are putting in place a comprehensive system to provide basic facilities to all people without any discrimination,” he said.

He said that good results of taking correct decisions on time had started appearing in the country. The federal government had announced a reconstruction package of Rs200 billion and distributed billions of rupees under Ehsaas support programme among the people affected by coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath, he said.

About Pakistan’s unconditional love for Turkey, he said that founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam Hassan Ali was honoured with title of ‘effendi’ by Turkey when he collected huge donations to help the then Turkish government during an earthquake in the country. People of Lahore and Karachi had also donated money to Turkey during natural disasters, he said.

He advised masses to give their votes only to those who sincerely took care of the poor.

The countries, including India, which used to ask Pakistan to take care of its minorities were themselves involved in atrocities against minorities, he said.

The governor and PTI leaders Haleem Adil Sheikh and Aftab Qureshi also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the president along with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail distributed ration bags among the deserving people and the president said the relief items were provided by UAE government.
