CDA chief summoned in sailing club case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday summoned the chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to explain the legal status of the naval farms and the sailing club.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah was hearing petitions filed against the administration of the naval farms and the sailing club. The court had earlier issued a stay order on both the petitions.
However, the petitioners filed pleas seeking contempt proceedings against the naval authorities for violating the restraining orders.
A counsel for the petitioners told the court that construction activities had not been stopped despite the restraining orders from the IHC.
The counsel also produced video footage and photographs in support of her contentions.
One of the counsel for the naval authorities told the court that his clients were disposing of unused construction material which was lying on the roads. He said during the rains, the unused construction material was creating problems by hindering the flow of rainwater. This was the reason the material has been removed from the road.
Justice Minallah directed the counsel to visit the site along with the petitioners. He warned of contempt proceedings against naval authorities in case the violation of court order was proved.
