Six civilians injured in Indian shelling

MUZAFFARABAD: At least six civilians were injured in two different districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in ceasefire violations by Indian army from across the Line of Control, officials said on Sunday.

In Battal sector of Poonch district, shelling continued on the second consecutive day on Sunday, leaving two sisters and a teenage boy injured in Tai village at about 5pm.

They were identified as Ms Naeem Akhtar, 26, Ms Zaheen Akhtar, 24, and Mohammad Arbaz, 16.

Ms Akhtar was referred to Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi owing to her critical condition while the other two victims were said to be stable.

On Saturday, two civilians were injured in the same sector due to Indian shelling.

They were identified as Mohammad Latif, 45, of Tai village and Nisar Shah, 55, of Natir village.

Also on Saturday, Ambreen Kosar, 27, was injured in Bandala area of Bhimber district in Indian shelling.

Officials said Indian army had resorted to shelling in some other areas as well, but immediately no casualties were reported from there.
