First police station opens in Tirah

KHYBER: The first police station in Tirah valley of Khyber tribal district was inaugurated on Thursday.

Peshawar commissioner Amjad Ali, Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur, Khyber DPO Mohammad Iqbal and security officials of 105 Brigade stationed in Tirah valley attended the inauguration ceremony of the police station at Janda Cheena Sar of Bagh Markaz in Malakdinkhel. Local tribal elders were also in attendance.

Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Gandapur said that the establishment of the first-ever police station in the remote Tirah valley was a result of sacrifices the security forces rendered in the fight against terrorism and subsequent restoration of peace in the valley, mostly situated on the border with Afghanistan.

He said that the policing system was being introduced at a fast pace in Khyber district which was an achievement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force.

He said that Tirah remained backward for decades and people of the region had little or no access to speedy justice which would now be ensured with the establishment of the police system.

DPO Mohammad Iqbal said the police posted in the station would facilitate the complainants coming for redressal of their grievances.
