Private school staffer found infected with Covid-19 in capital

ISLAMABAD: An staffer of a private school in Kuri tested positive, taking the toll of the infected staffers to seven in Islamabad.

Sources in the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (Peira) said the infected staffer had been quarantined and the school disinfected.

Two staffers of a girls college at F-6 had tested positive a few days ago while a student of a college was also found infected on Thursday.

The educational institutions reopened on September 15 and two days before the formal opening three teachers - one each from public schools located at G-6 and G-7 and one from a private school at H-8 - tested positive.

Sources said so far the situation was satisfactory and as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) after more than two positive cases an institution will be sealed.

An official of the ministry of education said testing of students and teachers of educational institutions was in progress.

On Friday, 477 tests were conducted in public institutions and 336 in private institutions.

He said the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Peira had formed teams for monitoring the SOPs, adding so far only a few institutions have been found violating the SOPs.
