LAKKI MARWAT: Jamaat-i-Islami’s provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said on Sunday that the major opposition parties were playing a role of friendly opposition in parliament by supporting the government in legislation and were not serious in launching anti-government agitation.

Talking to mediapersons at Gandi Chowk before addressing a public meeting in Takhtikhel village of Naurang town here, he said JI had set certain conditions for attending any multiparty conference or other joint functions of the opposition parties.

“We will be in the frontline against the incumbent government if the conditions set by JI are fulfilled,” he said.

Elaborating his views, he asked the opposition, especially the leadership of PML-N and PPP, to formulate a clear strategy of agitation aimed at toppling the government, while resignations from assemblies, mass protests and lockdowns should be part of the plan.

“After ousting the incumbent rulers the new government should be bound to declare ridding the country of shackles of international financial institutions and prioritise controlling inflation,” he said.

The JI senator asked the opposition parties to make end to interest-based economy and protocol culture part of the agenda of any new government besides across-the-board accountability of plunderers of national wealth.

He asked PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to return to the country and lead the opposition parties’ agitation.

At the public meeting, Senator Mushtaq said that Al-Khidmat Foundation had done a great job during coronavirus pandemic and extended food and other facilities to the affected people.

On this occasion, the elders, including Malik Allah Noor and Hamayun Khan, announced to join JI. Party’s district chief Azizullah Khan was also present on the occasion.

FACTORY SEALED: The district administration has sealed a beverage factory allegedly operating illegally in Azad Mandi area of Bannu district.

Additional deputy commissioner Shabir Khan along with a police contingent raided the factory and seized chemicals, bottles and other equipment from the place. The officials sealed the factory and arrested its owner.

WILDLIFE PARKS: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department chief conservator Syed Mohammad Ali visited wildlife parks and other facilities in Lakki Marwat and DI Khan districts on Sunday.

In Lakki Marwat, he inspected animals and birds’ enclosures and other compartments in the park where he was briefed about the development works.

He also went to the wildlife park in DI Khan district where he inspected the leopard cages and breeding centre of deers.
