Nawaz always picked fight with institutions: Shujaat
LAHORE: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain has said whenever PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif came to power he picked fight with the institutions.
“Every time he came to power Nawaz Sharif picked up fight with the army and weakened the institutions. As the prime minister he should have created national stability and solidarity,” the PML-Q chief said on Monday in reaction to the address of Mr Sharif at the multi-party conference (MPC).
Shujaat said Nawaz Sharif targeted the army and the advisers, who had written his speech, had once again made him shoot at his own feet. “Nawaz Sharif’s speech shows that he is against the army and not politicians,” he said adding Sharif had mentioned about rigging in the 2018 polls but he forgot to talk about rigging done in his favour.
“Nawaz Sharif said the country had been turned into a laboratory but he himself had laid the foundation of this laboratory in the 1990 election. During that period Sharif had requested the Election Commission that the army should assume responsibility for the polls. At that time for him the army was good and now it has become bad,” the PML-Q leader lamented.
Shujaat said Nawaz Sharif accused the institutions of hijacking the election whereas he had himself done this work for becoming the prime minister in the past. “Sharif should have thought before accusing the NAB chairman as he himself had nominated him for the slot,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) ticket-holder from NA-169 Bahawalnagar Ahmad Khan Kamoka called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and former senator Kamil Ali Agha and announced joining the PML-Q.
