Balochistan schools’ reopening delayed for 15 days

QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Saturday announced a 15-day delay in reopening of primary schools in the province.

Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani told a press conference that since some coronavirus cases had been detected at reopened educational institutions in the province, the reopening of primary schools had been delayed for another 15 days.

He said that the Balochistan government would propose to the National Command and Operations Centre on Covid-19 that primary schools in the province be reopened on Oct 15.

He said that the educational institutions where coronavirus cases were detected had been closed.

The spokesman warned that those who entered educational institutions without wearing face masks would face strict action.

He said Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani had already warned of rising cases of Covid-19 in the province and the risk of a second wave of the infectious disease.

Mr Shahwani urged the people to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) — wearing a face mask, maintaining a distance of three to six feet and frequently washing hands.

Mr Shahwani said the educational institutions where two or more coronavirus cases were detected had been shut down.
