PPP lambastes Pemra ban on coverage of abuse case

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday rejected the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (Pemra) directives for television channels to stop coverage of the motorway abuse case.

PPP’s central information secretary Dr Nafisa Shah termed the order by the electronic media regulator an attempt to suppress the facts and conceal incompetence of relevant authorities.

Dr Shah said that the Pemra directive was an attempt to cover up the failure of the “selected government”. The woman who was abused on the motorway was waiting for justice, she said, adding the “incompetent government” had so far remained unable to arrest the main accused in the case.
