Development for an Equitable Society
Jamil Nasir

In this collection of writings, spanning from 2007 to 2015 and previously published in various newspapers of Pakistan, the author discusses the economy of the country in light of academic and empirical studies. In the first of the book’s four sections, the author evaluates the constraints and determinants affecting Pakistan’s economic growth. Part two is an analysis of inequality as a social choice, arising from the interplay of political factors. Part three considers the multiple pathways needed to alleviate the multidimensional phenomenon of poverty and the last section examines progress and the ‘economics of happiness’.
