Zardari unwell, moved to private hospital

KARACHI: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari was shifted to a private hospital on Sunday evening in view of his deteriorating health, said a spokesperson for the Bilawal House.

Doctors were examining the senior PPP leader and carrying out the necessary medical tests, a statement issued by the party added.

Later in the evening, Mr Zardari’s long-time associate Dr Asim Hussain told a private news channel that the former president was brought to the hospital due to low sugar level.

Mr Zardari has been facing several corruption cases following his arrest in June 2019.

Recently, he was indicted in a money laundering, Park Lane properties and Thatta water supply references instituted by the National Accountability Bureau.

In December last year, he was granted a post-arrest bail on medical grounds by the Islamabad High Court after a medical report of the former president suggested his continued incarceration would adversely affect his health.
