India has become hub of IS operators: Malik

ISLAMABAD: The chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator, Rehman Malik, has said that India has been turned into a hub of Daesh (the militant Islamic State group) operators working with RSS. India, he added, has put the whole of South Asia into danger.

Speaking at a news conference on Sunday, Mr Malik recalled that 44 Indian banks had been flagged in connection with transactions by Indian entities and individuals in a set of SARs (suspicious activity reports) filed by the US banks with the watchdog agency, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Despite this, he regretted, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was reluctant to take any action against India. He said Pakistan was put on the grey list for only the suspicious transaction while India was given a free hand despite its involvement in terror financing and money laundering.

Mr Malik, who served as interior minister during the previous PPP government, said he had written two letters to the FATF president with all evidence to take action against India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being involved in terror financing.
