Soldier martyred in attack from across Afghan border

BAJAUR/MIRAMSHAH: Two members of security forces were martyred and seven others suffered injuries in separate attacks on security posts in Bajaur and North Waziristan tribal districts on Wednesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a soldier was martyred and another wounded when terrorists fired gunshots from across Pak-Afghan border on the Pakistan Army post in Bajaur.

In a tweet, the ISPR said Havaldar Tanveer embraced martyrdom and another soldier was injured in the attack.

Bajaur has witnessed numerous such attacks in the past in which both members of security forces and civilians have lost their lives.

The last such attack from across the Pak-Afghan border happened on Sept 22 in which a Pakistan Army soldier, Sabir Shah, who belonged to Kohat, was martyred.

After the Sept 22 attack, the ISPR director general had said that the issue of border management had been raised with Afghan authorities multiple times to prevent the use of the neighboring country’s soil for attacks against Pakistan.

Havaldar Muhammad Nawaz was martyred and six other personnel were injured when assailants attacked a security post at Patisai Adda in Mirali tehsil on Wednesday.

The injured included soldiers Asad, Amir Munir, Nazir, Asif Daud, Ashfaq Mukhtar and Havaldar Pervez. They were taken to CMH, Bannu.

Members of security forces retaliated to the attack, but there was no report of losses of lives and property. The security personnel cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
