Completion of work on Peshawar Media Colony ordered

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that welfare of the journalist community is one of the top priorities of his government and all possible steps will be taken to resolve genuine issues of mediapersons.

He was talking to a representative delegation of the Peshawar Press Club which called on him at his office and discussed with him matters related to the welfare of journalists, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.

Peshawar Press Club president Syed Bukhar Shah led the delegation, which included Imran Yousafzai, Shehzada Fahad and its other office-bearers.

The chief minister while stressing the need for completion of remaining works in the Peshawar Media Colony directed the Peshawar Development Authority authorities to make necessary payments for the provision of Sui gas and electricity to the colony.

He also directed the authorities concerned to expedite work on expansion of access roads to the media colony. On the demand of the delegation, the chief minister directed the quarters concerned to make all arrangements for allocation of dedicated land for media enclave in the proposed Peshawar Model Town.

CM’s special assistant Kamran Bangash and principal secretary Shahab Ali Shah, secretary information Arshad Khan, director general information Imdadullah and PDA director general Zafar Ali Shah were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the delegation of journalist community held a meeting with the PDA DG, which was also attended by directors of different sections of the authority.

The meeting was convened to assess requirements of the journalists and speed up the process of establishing the media enclave in the proposed Peshawar Model Town. The authority released money for the extension of electricity and Sui gas in the Peshawar Media Colony. Approval was also granted for the access bridge to the media colony during the meeting.
