ISLAMABAD: Five more streets in F-6, F-10 and I-10 have been sealed to limit the spread of Covid-19.

According to an order issued by the office of the deputy commissioner, Street 18 in F-6, Street 1 in F-6/3, Street 53 in F-6/4, Street 55 in F-10/4 and Gali 17 in I-10/2 have been locked down.

Exemptions to the order include essential services and supplies such as pharmacies, patients requiring medical aid, rationing, drinking water supplies and emergencies.

The Saddar, City and Shalimar subdivisional magistrates have been directed to execute the order in their areas and ensure that food and edibles are supplied in the sealed streets.

The streets will be cordoned off by the police to limit the spread of the disease, the order added.

Islamabad reported 224 cases of Covid-19 and two deaths on Saturday, administration officials said, out of 3,902 tests.

This is the highest number of cases reported in the city in a single day since July 29, when 248 people tested positive.

There were 14 cases reported from PWD Colony, followed by 13 each from G-11 and Bhara Kahu, 12 each from G-5, F-6 and Bahria Town, 10 each from F-10, E-11 and Chak Shahzad, nine from F-8, eight each from G-8 and G-7, six each from I-8 and DHA, five each from Tarlai, Sihala, Golra, Ghouri Town, G-6 and Bani Gala, four each from the National Police Foundation, Margalla Town, F-7 and Blue Area, three each from Soan Garden, Korang Town, Jinnah Garden and F-11, two each from the SUPARCO Isolation Centre, Rawat, NIH Colony and G-10, and one each from River Garden, Rawal Town, Nilore, Naval Anchorage, G-14, G-15, E-9 and B-17.

Rawalpindi

Two Covid-19 patients have died in the last two days while 35 people have tested positive for the disease and 12 patients were discharged.

There are 722 people are in quarantine awaiting the results of their Covid-19 tests.

A 50-year-old resident of Tench Bhatta was brought to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on October 28 where he died Friday morning. A 70-year-old patient from Gulzar-i-Quaid was admitted to the HFH on October 28 where he died on Saturday.

There are currently 44 confirmed patients admitted to HFH, of which six are from outside the district, while 218 patients are isolated in their homes and being visited by health authority officials in selected areas.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood said 9,106 people have tested positive since March - 7,637 in Rawalpindi, 655 in Attock, 516 in Jhelum and 298 in Chakwal.

So far, 8,426 patients have recovered - 7,055 in Rawalpindi, 619 in Attock, 493 in Jhelum and 259 in Chakwal – and 389 people have died - 320 people have died in Rawalpindi, 39 in Chakwal, 21 in Attock and nine in Jhelum.
