CCPO orders cases against three policemen for misconduct

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Umar Sheikh on Sunday ordered registration of cases against three policemen involved in illegal detention, running a private torture cell and misuse of authority.

Two cases were registered against former Nawab Town SHO Taimour Abbas, check post in-charge Haider Ali and ASI Sajid over misuse of authority, illegal detention and giving undue favour to a suspect.

The Nawab Town police registered a case against former SHO Mr Abbas who during an inquiry was found guilty of providing protection to the suspects involved in car theft cases and taking bribe.

The SHO was involved in registering cases of theft of vehicles without verification of ownership and also was providing protection to a suspect, Khurram Shehzad.

CCPO Mr Sheikh took notice of the incident and after inquiry ordered registration of a case against the former SHO. He also constituted a police team to arrest the suspect involved in fraud and deception.

In another case, Adda Plot check post in-charge Mr Ali and his subordinate ASI Sajid were found guilty of misuse of authority and illegal detention of the citizens at a private place.

The CCPO ordered registration of a case against both the policemen and said misuse of authority, illegal detention and running private torture cell would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
