Four diagnosed with dengue in Attock

TAXILA: Four persons diagnosed with dengue in Attock caused alarm in the health department.

According to sources in the department, four people were diagnosed with dengue in the district, one in Hazro and three in Fatehjang while 12 suspected patients have also surfaced out of whom five are from Attock, six from Hazro and one from Hassanabdal.

District Health Officer Dr Jawad Ellahi said that all suspected patients have been kept under surveillance while their tests are being conducted, adding, this year, no deaths related to dengue were reported as a result of effective measures taken by the health department. He urged people to adopt precautionary measures and keep their surroundings dry to prevent breeding of dengue larvae.

District entomologist Mr Shahfeeq said all government departments in the district worked on the dengue prevention campaign.

Responding to another question, he said the health department with assistance from respective municipal committees carried out indoor residual spraying (IRS) and fogging around the houses of positive and suspected patients. He said in Fatehjang, a commercial premise was sealed for frequent recovery of dengue larvae.
