PTI protests against Ayaz’s speech in NA

LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) central Punjab chapter on Monday staged a protest demonstration against PML-N MNA Ayaz Sadiq.

At the demonstration in front of the press club, the protesters, led by PTI central Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry, shouted slogans against former National Assembly speaker Sadiq for making statements in the Lower House that, they alleged, damaged the cause of Pakistan. They were also holding placards inscribed with “Ayaz Sadiq is Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq” and “Ayaz Sadiq is a traitor”.

None of the PTI leaders on stage or many party workers attending the demonstration wore a facemask or observed social distancing.

Addressing the rally, Mr Chaudhry said Sadiq had violated the Constitution while making statements in parliament “against the armed forces”. He demanded constitution of a parliamentary committee to probe into the statement.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan and the armed forces spokesman had already stated it clearly that Pakistan would pay India back in the same coin if it was attacked. He said the armed forces were already responding to Indian aggression in a befitting manner.

He alleged that the PML-N had adopted an anti-Pakistan narrative that suited Modi’s narrative.
