Strike observed in Quetta, Pishin over trader’s killing
QUETTA: A complete strike was observed on Tuesday in Quetta and Pishin districts on the call of Anjuman-i-Tajiran Balochistan and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) over the killing of a leader of a traders’ organisation in Pishin on Monday.
Heavy contingents of police, Levies, Balochistan Constabulary and Frontier Corps were deployed at different points in Quetta to avert any untoward incident during the strike.
All bazaars, shops, markets, shopping malls and business establishments remained closed in the provincial capital and Pishin district throughout the day. The provincial capital presented a deserted look as the business community responded positively to the strike call.
Traffic remained thin in Quetta and Pishin during the strike as a majority of people preferred to stay at home. Same reports were also received from the Pishin town and other areas of the district.
Allahdad Tareen, the secretary general of the traders’ organisation, was gunned down in his village Loai-Alizai of Pishin district on Monday evening.
Burial
The deceased was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Loai-Alizai in the presence of hundreds of people, including leaders of PkMAP and other political parties and a large number of traders and people from the business community.
Meanwhile, leaders of various political parties, tribal elders, civil society representatives and others have strongly condemned the killing of Allahdad Tareen and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
