Saving markhor
AN alarming number of markhors, our national animal, were found dead in Buleda and Zamuran mountains over the last few weeks. There is no official reason behind these deaths as the area lies deserted owing to security threats.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature has put markhor on its red list of threatened species facing extinction.
The relevant offices should send a research team to the region as soon as possible to investigate the cause of the death of markhors in such numbers, and to somehow save the animal.
