Sania Nishtar among BBC’s 100 women

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has been included in BBC’s list of 100 influential women of 2020.

Apart from Ms Nishtar, who leads Pakistan’s Ehsaas Programme, Sanna Marin, leader of Finland’s all-female coalition government and head of research for coronavirus vaccine at Oxford University Prof Sarah Gilbert are also a part of the list.

This distinction has been conferred upon Ms Sania for her work and contribution towards poverty alleviation, global health and development, a statement issued by the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division said.

“The dramatic impact of Covid-19 presents us with a once-in-a-generation chance to build a fairer world and bring an end to poverty, inequality and the climate crisis. For this, women must be equal, empowered stakeholders,” Ms Nishtar said in her comment after her name was placed on the list.
