Constable killed in targeted attack in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A police constable was gunned down in a targeted attack on Wednesday night at Taru Jabba area of Nowshera district.

The constable Shah Faisal, 24, was coming home in Taru Jabba on Wednesday night from duty in Peshawar when unknown assailants opened fire on him near his house.

According to residents, father of the martyred cop is also serving in the police department.

DIG Mardan Sher Akbar Khan visited house of the martyred cop on Thursday to offer his condolences to the bereaved family. He also visited site of the incident where DPO Najmul Hasnain gave briefing to him.

He assured the family members of all possible help and early arrest of the assailants.

Mr Hasnain said that police were investigating the case through different angles.

When asked about the cop’s role in any special operation, the DPO said Faisal was an ordinary constable and he had nothing special to say about it.
