Polio vaccination drive begins in Attock
TAXILA: A five-day polio vaccination drive, under strict preventive measures for Covid-19, began in Attock on Sunday.
Provincial Minister for Revenue Malik Mohammad Anwar inaugurated the campaign at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Pindigheb.
The government has decided to resume polio vaccination of children under strict Covid-19 preventive measures. A ‘no touch’ vaccination method will be adopted so that distance is maintained between the front line worker and child, Mr Anwar said.
He said health department teams must ensure that polio drops are administered to all children between the ages of one to five, adding parents must cooperate with the teams to make the campaign a success.
Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qammar, District Health Authority Chief Executive Dr Jawad Elahi, Assistant Commissioner Haider Abbas and officials from various departments were present.
Mr Elahi said 296,662 children will be administered polio drops across the district.
As many as 953 teams have been constituted; they will be present at all entry and exit points of the city, bus stands, railway stations, hospitals and health centres.
