Centre criticised over gas shortage in Sindh
KARACHI: Criticising the federal government over gas cuts in the province, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Sheikh has said that it is the third winter during the tenure of the PTI-led government at the Centre and again this time people are facing a gas crisis.
He said that despite having the largest cabinet in the country’s history, consisting of more than half a dozen special assistants and advisers, the federal government, besides the energy ministry, was in a state of confusion.
In a statement, he said that all tall claims and promises made by the federal energy minister last year proved to be false. “The gas crisis is being aggravated by incompetent rulers and their failed policies,” he claimed.
The minister said that when the liquefied natural gas (LNG) was needed the federal government bought expensive furnace oil and when they needed furnace oil, they procured expensive LNG.
The provincial minister said that Sindh was the largest gas producing province, still the federation was not providing gas to the province as per its requirement.
