Labourer shot dead near civil hospital; pistol and bike found at crime scene
KARACHI: A 45-year-old man was shot dead near the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Sunday morning, according to police.
They said that Gul Sahab was passing by a fire brigade office when a lone suspect riding a motorbike fired on him and fled.
The police found a motorbike and a pistol at the crime scene and believed that the killer abandoned them in a state of panic.
Area SHO Nadeem Hyder said that the victim was a labourer and was heading towards his workplace when he was shot. He originally hailed from Bajaur, the police officer added.
He said the killer had been identified but Gul Sahab’s relatives told the police that they would lodge an FIR after the victim’s burial.
The police believed that the murder was motivated by some personal enmity.
Five of a family hurt in cylinder explosion
A couple and their three children suffered burns in a cylinder blast at the house in Ibrahim Hyderi on Sunday.
Police said that the cylinder blew up in the house located in Ali Akbar Shah Goth. It triggered a fire causing burns to five persons — Mukhtiar Ahymed, 50, his wife, Najma, 45, and their three children, Ramsha, 8, Alishba, 10, and Mudassir, 12.
They were shifted to the Burns Centre of CHK for treatment.
Area SHO Chaudhry Shahid said that the condition of the affected family members was out of danger.
Two wounded upon resistance
Two persons were shot at and wounded by robbers over resistance in separate incidents on Sunday.
Police said that Moeen Siddique, 45, was shot and wounded when he offered resistance to robbers near a Nadra office in Model Colony. He was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
In the other incident, 24-year-old Bashir Munir was shot at and wounded by robbers upon offering resistance on Nishter Road, Soldier Bazaar.
The victim was shifted to the CHK for treatment.
