Hawkesbay huts’ allotment

KARACHI: City Administrator and Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Monday cancelled allotment of all huts at Hawkesbay and directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s land department to take control of the huts.

Official sources said that all allottees were issued notices and action would be taken against the defaulters according to law.

The administrator said that there were 254 huts of KMC which were given on a three-year allotment.

He said that all huts would be auctioned as per market value as it would increase the department’s revenue.

Mr Shallwani said that the purpose behind the act was to make good use of KMC’s assets and increase its revenue to provide better civic facilities to the people. He directed the land department to make the process of allotment and rent transparent and make a mechanism to facilitate the citizens.
