Quetta mass transit
THE transport system of Quetta presents a grim picture. Much of the city’s woes have been exacerbated due to the growing population, dilapidated infrastructure and increasing number of vehicles. All this, of course, is in addition to official negligence in this key sector.
Saryab Road remains usually choked due to the massive movement of heavy vehicles and roadside vendors selling their wares on pushcarts. The city is in dire need of new and well-maintained roads and infrastructure to preserve its beauty.
Since other cities in the country have addressed the traffic congestion with mass transit systems, a similar initiative should be planned for Quetta as well.
The federal and provincial governments need to come up with fresh policies to reduce traffic congestion in Quetta and develop smart solutions to provide relief to the people.
