Two proclaimed offenders killed, accomplices held in Kohat
KOHAT: Two proclaimed offenders were killed and their three accomplices arrested during five hours long fire exchange with police in the mountains of Mohammadzai here on Wednesday.
Giving details, DSP Bashir Dad told Dawn that intense fighting was going on between two rival parties in which one Sajid was injured.
A police party headed by DPO Javed Iqbal went to the scene and asked the aggressive party comprising Darwesh (1), Darwesh (2), Riyat and POs Nadeem and Abdullah to surrender, but they instead opened fire on the police which was retaliated.
During the five-hour fire exchange POs Nadeem and Abdullah were killed.
The DSP said the two were wanted by Jarma, cantonment and Saddar police in 16 different cases of murder, attempted murder, robbery and drug peddling. Their three accomplices have been arrested. A case has been registered against the accused.
MAN, SON SHOT DEAD: A man and his teenage son were killed when his brother-in-law opened fire on them over a women’s dispute in Bama area of Kamardhand on Wednesday.
The accused Kamran told police that despite warnings Arshad came to their house on Wednesday and irritated the women on which he opened fire on him, which also killed his son Subhan Khan, 13.
The police have arrested the accused Kamran Khan and Darwesh Khan and registered a double murder case against them.
ACTION SOUGHT AGAINST QUACKS: Former members of local bodies have asked the healthcare commission to launch an operation against quacks and unqualified people running hundreds of clinics illegally and endangering people’s lives in the district.
Former nazim of Alizai Najmul Hassan, former nazim of Sher Kot Malik Ishtiaq, ex-councillor Mohammad Noor Shinwari and Faizan Banoori expressed concern over treatment of patients of TB, cancer, blood pressure, diabetes, etc by unqualified people. They said that many people had died because of the wrong treatment at the illegal outlets.
They also demanded a strict check on sale of substandard and expired medicines at medical stores.
They said that those running illegal ‘clinics’ had no diploma or medical experience and as such were putting the lives of people in danger. The former LG representatives also demanded provision of proper healthcare facilities for the people.
