Police officials involved in theft, robbery arrested

NAROWAL: A case has been registered against five police officials for their alleged involvement in theft, robbery, prostitution, blackmail and other crimes.

Muhammad Humayun, of Mohalla Lasani Nagar, moved the Shakargarh City police that his motorcycle has been stolen from outside his house.

He also gave CCTV footage of the theft to the police.

The footage showed a man identified as Muhammad Azhar taking away the motorcycle.

The Shakargarh police arrested Azhar who told police that he passed on the stolen motorcycle to Adil Khan, a police constable, against Rs10,000 to Rs20,000 per piece.The police arrested Adil and seized nine motorcycles from him. Both confessed to committing theft, robbery, prostitution and blackmailing people.

Azhar said that constables Tahir Naseeb, Adil, Rehmatullah, Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Inam posted at different police stations were in his gang. Adil said that Azhar, Niaz and Sadaf Bibi used to commit crimes with others.

Shakargarh SHO Shoaib Kamran said that nine stolen motorcycles and valuable things had been seized from the arrested people.

District Police Officer Hafiz Wahid Mahmood said the police personnel who have been in the service for 15 to 20 years have been caught committing crimes several times before but only to be released.

He said the police officials involved in crimes had been immediately suspended and a charge sheet has also been issued while taking departmental action.

DIES: A six-year-old boy fell under a tractor-trolley and died.

Muhammad Hamad was playing in the street in Bheera village near Zafarwal when he was hit by a tractor-trolley and died. The tractor-trolley driver fled.

Labourer Muhammad Shehzad, of Sialkot, said his son had come to his hometown with his family.

The police shifted the body to the Shakargarh Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for necessary legal action.
