Wonder Craft: Yarn and seashells photo frame

Whenever you visit the seaside, don’t forget to grab some seashells lying around on the shore. Seashells are amazing things that can be used in a variety of ways but our main focus for using the seashells is to either make any craft out of them or use them for decoration.

So today, we will be doing the latter for our yarn photo frame.

Things you need:

  1. Cardboard piece 12inches in length and 10 inches in width

  2. Yarn (two colours, pink and white)

  3. A few seashells for decoration

  4. Artificial pearls or white beads

  5. Artificial flowers: two

  6. Hot glue

  7. Scissors

Directions:

  1. As we are making a photo frame, it is up to you to choose the shape, I chose oval, because we haven’t tried it yet here. I used the outline of an oval mirror, picture 2.

  2. Cut out two such oval-shaped cardboard pieces, leave the one as it is and cut out the

inside from the second oval piece, leaving 1.5 as the boundary, see picture 3.

  1. Start tying yarn around the boundary of the frame, picture 4.

  2. To make two-coloured yarn frame, I used A 60:40 ratio in using the colours. For instance, I have given more space to pink yarn than white, see pictures 5 and 6.

  3. Now from the leftover pieces of cardboard, cut three, two-inch strips to be pasted on the oval-shaped cardboard (the back of our photo frame), see pictures 7 and 8. Make sure you cut the strips rounded as they will be pasted on the oval-shaped cardboard. These strips will give space between the yarned boundary and the back of the frame.

  4. Paste the yarned boundary over the back of the frame, see picture 9.

  5. It is time to decorate, you can use your imagination, see pictures 10, 11.

  6. Use shells, beads or pearls as neatly as you can, picture 12.

  7. To make the frame stand, cut a 3-inches strip from the leftover cardboard and paste it on the back of the frame, see picture 13. Or paste a loop of string if you want to hang it.
