KOHAT: An official of Counter Terrorism Department was killed by unidentified assailants in Kachai area of Kohat on Monday.

The CTD office said that Aqleem Haider was on leave and was in his hometown Kachai for three days. It said that unidentified armed men stopped him and opened fire at him. He was injured seriously. He was taken to the hospital but he succumbed to his wounds there. A case against unidentified assailants was in Ustarzai police station.

Meanwhile, Lachi police arrested a proclaimed offender in a raid in Anzarwana Banda on Monday.

A statement issued by police said that proclaimed offender Ahmed Khan was wanted for smuggling and selling drugs. He possessed illegal weapons. Police recovered one kilogram of heroin, two kilograms of hashish, a pistol and cartridges from him.

GAS: The local leaders ruling of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf withdrew their warning of uprooting the gas pipelines to protest low pressure of gas after officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines assured them that issue would be resolved by December 31.

It merits a mention here that protests were being held across the district against the low pressure of gas. PTI leaders Usman Pir, Shabbir Butt and Saeed Khan held a meeting with the SNGPL officials, who assured them that the problem would be solved till end of the current month.

They said that work was in progress to solve the matter as soon as possible as chairman of Kashmir committee had provided Rs20 million for the purpose.

The PTI leaders told journalists that after December 31, they would uproot the pipeline supplying gas to Punjab because Kohat had right over its resources.

Meanwhile, postponing the rally, a jirga of women affected by low pressure of gas, along with a lawyer went to the city police station to register their protest on Monday.

The women rally was planned for Monday from Tehsil Gate to Shuhada Chowk but former councillor Hazrat Bibi told the protesters that he would convey their grievances to the administration.
