Development projects of education, health sectors in Balochistan reviewed

QUETTA: A meeting presided over by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday reviewed the development projects of polytechnic institutes, colleges, residential colleges, hospitals and GOR colonies and other ongoing schemes.

Provincial Secretary of Physical Planning and Housing Department Ghulam Ali Baloch briefed the meeting about 290 ongoing schemes and 405 new schemes and PC-1 of the schemes for 2020-21.

Officials gave briefings on polytechnic institutes, colleges, residential colleges, schools, hospitals and other development projects in the province.

The chief minister said that planning should be made keeping in view the modern style of construction in the design of the buildings.

He directed that modern style should be adopted in the construction of hospitals in Chagai and Sanjavi and all government buildings should be designed keeping in view the convenience of special persons and installation of CCTV cameras and fire-fighting equipment should be ensured.

He directed that all other necessary facilities should be included in the construction of polytechnic institutes and residential colleges, including promotion of horticulture and sports activities and presence of mini auditoriums, conference halls and dispensaries.

He directed that in the GOR colonies, construction of community halls, gymnasiums, family parks, parking lots, schools and efficient system of sewerage and drainage, street lights and underground electricity should be ensured.

The chief minister said that the province was undergoing an evolutionary phase to adapt the buildings codes and requirements of the future.

Balochistan Chief Secretary retired Capt Fazeel Asghar, Additional Chief Secretary of Planning and Development Abdul Saboor Kakar, Secretary of Services and General Administration Arshad Majeed, Secretary of Secondary Education Sher Khan Bazai, Secretary of Higher Education Hashim Khan Ghilzai, Secretary of Information Shah Iran Gharsheen, Special Secretary of Finance Lal Jan Jaffar and Special Secretary of Health Hayat Khan Kakar attended the meeting.
