PESHAWAR: The sixth anniversary of the gruesome terrorist attack on the Army Public School, Pesha­war, in which 147 students and staff members were killed, will be observed on Wednesday.

On the eve of the anniversary, parents of scores of slain children held a candlelit vigil inside and outside the APS premises on Tuesday night.

The parents and relatives of the martyred students also attended a gathering held at the APS Shuhada Hall insi­­de the Khyber Pakhtun­khwa Archives Library. The event was organised by the Pak Youth Parliament.

Later a procession was ta­­ken out from the library. The participants were holding banners and placards with pictures of the martyred students. After marching on different roads, the participants gathered at the main campus of the school located on Warsak Road. They offered fateha and lit candles inside the school.

In connection with the attack’s sixth anniversary, the main gathering of the grieving parents would be held at Shuhada Hall in the APS campus.

Meanwhile, PPP lawma­ker Nighat Yasmeen Ora­gzai on Tuesday submitted a resolution to the KP Assem­­bly secretariat, which would be tabled when its session is summoned.

“The 16th December is the ‘Black Day’ in the history of Pakistan, as on this day the enemy had atta­ck­­ed the future of Pakistan,” reads the resolution.

“The sacrifices rendered by the APS martyrs are a beacon of light for the upcoming generation, for education and peace… This provincial assembly salutes the courage of and sacrifices rendered by the APS martyrs,” adds the resolution.
