0.5m litres of Iranian diesel seized

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs in coordination with Frontier Corps Balochistan has seized 504,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel along with oil tankers.

It was the biggest-ever seizure valuing Rs178.26 million in less than a week’s time. Moreover, the customs authorities in different raids also seized other smuggled goods worth Rs48.86m.

An official announcement said Member Customs Operation Tariq Huda has tasked the chief collectors to intensify drive against smuggling to encourage imports on legal channels and to attract investment.

The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Enforcement and Compliance Quetta had also seized 16.60 million tonnes of betel nuts worth Rs39.2m.Chief Collector Gull Rehman Balochistan said such actions will not only protect the market from hazardous and smuggled goods but will also promote foreign direct investment by boosting confidence and trust of investors.
