Over 70 Swabi teachers promoted

SWABI: Seventy-two teachers have been promoted under the service structure formulated by the then Awami National Party provincial government, according to notifications issued by the education department here on Monday.

The promoted teachers have been directed to report to the place of duty within 15 days of the issuance of the order.

The promoted teachers included physical education teachers (PETs), theology teachers (TTs), drawing masters (DMs), Arabic teachers (ATs), certified teachers (CTs) and Qaris.

The PETs have been promoted to the post of senior physical education teachers (SPETs), TTs to STTs, DMs to SDMs, ATs to SATs and CTs to SCTs. Most of the senior teachers in all these categories have been promoted to the post of secondary school teachers (SSTs).

The notifications said 30 teachers had been promoted to SST posts, 27 to SCT, four to SPET, three to SAT, and four each to STT and SDM posts.

When contacted, Iftikhar Khan, general secretary of Topi Teachers Society, told Dawn that credit for teachers’ promotion went to ANP, especially to former provincial education minister Sardar Hussain Babak, who had played a key role in formulating service structure for teachers.

He said the ANP government had provided a perfect mechanism for the teachers’ promotion.

MISSING BOY RETURNS HOME: A teenage boy, Hassain Khan, who had gone missing three days ago, reached home in Naro Kalay area on Monday.

Sher Zaman, the boy’s father, said he had announced Rs300,000 reward on recovery of his son.

The police quoted the boy as saying that his kidnappers wanted to remove his kidneys but he succeeded to escape them.
